The National Park Service is currently in production on a new film for Homestead National Monument of America, “Land Of Dreams Homesteading America.”
This film will be a 20 minute exploration into the history and legacy of the 1862 Homestead Act and what the “homestead” has become in our society.
The park service is seeking your help. They are calling for all interested parties to document their “homestead” on video and send it to the park service to be part of the new project.*
Whether your homestead is a farm, a lot in a development or a roof top, the park service wants to see and hear about your connection to the place that you call a homestead.
All entries are due by November 1. Tapes must me no longer than 20 min; any video format will be accepted.
Videos must include a guided tour of the homestead and on-camera interview with thoughts or musings to these questions:
- How did you come to your “homestead”?
- How would you describe your connection to the “homestead”?
- What does the idea of homestead mean to you?
- What does Land of dreams mean to you
