Consumers have spoken and farmers are responding: Organic farming is what America wants. The number of Certified Organic farms has increased 11 percent since 2014, putting the number of U.S. organic farms at nearly 15,000, TakePart.org reported. The findings come from a study published by market research firm Mecaris.
Even though organic cropland, which accounts for 4 million acres, is still a small part of the overall farming culture in the U.S., states like California and Montana are leading the pack. Oats are the top organic crop—probably fueling many bowls of overnight oats and homemade granola.
