Now that Halloween has come and gone you might be asking yourself what you can do with your jack-o’-lanterns. Rather than throw them out, F.A.R.R.M., an animal sanctuary in Canada, has been using them to feed their potbellied pigs (sheep and goats have been partaking as well).
While pumpkin is not a staple for the pigs, it can serve as a treat, which is great for the rescued and surrendered animals at the sanctuary. If you are near the sanctuary’s collection center at 1712 Turvey Bend in Terwilligar Town, they are accepting pumpkin donations through tonight, Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, CBCNews reports. Monetary donations can be made on the F.A.R.R.M. website.
For those who don’t live near the sanctuary’s donation center and don’t want your jack-o-lanterns to be wasted, try feeding them to your own pigs. They’ll love the treat.
