Plants for a Container Water Garden

Now that you have the pots you want, we'll show you what container-water-garden plants to get.

In this urban-farming video, Bobby Scherer, owner of Northport, N.Y.’s S. Scherer & Sons, one of the largest aquatic nurseries in the United States, takes a little time out for Urban Farm to introduce some of the many lush plants that can be used to start a water garden: water lettuce, water hyacinth, cyperus haspan, water lilly dwarf papyrus (King Tut papyrus), common papyrus, umbrella palm, cyperus alternifolius and parrot feather.

Scherer also fills us in on how to keep the mosquitoes that are attracted to our water gardens at bay so they don’t take over our backyards.
