Popsicles were fun treats as a child, especially during summer of if we had a sore throat. My favorite was always the Creamsicles; I think I liked the ice cream/Popsicle combination without having to eat it in a bowl. Now, not only are there various fruit-flavored Popsicles, multi-flavored Creamsicles and Fudgsicles, but a farmer in Houston has made goat milk Popsicles.
Stacey Roussel of All We Need Farm milks her goats daily and lets them soak up the sun as much as possible. These farm creatures have also given her the inspiration to team with Houston ice cream maker Marcelo Kreindel to make what is believed to be the world’s first goat milk Popsicle, News Fix reports.
“Our Popsicle have less calories because they’re made with milk and not cream”, she told News Fix.
Roussel’s Popsicles come in a variety of flavors, including strawberry, vanilla, cajeta (a Mexican caramel sauce made from goat’s milk), chocolate and honey. The Popsicles are currently available at the Eastside Farmers Market, as well as Dozier’s, Home Sweet Farm and Irmas, News Fix reports.
